January Money Management TIP

Before you use your Gift Cards, Know Before You GO!

√ Check Your Balance: Call the customer service number on the card and know your balance before you go.
At Checkout: Always select CREDIT when making purchases.

If your purchase is more that your gift card balance, first pay the difference with a second form of payment (cash, credit card, check, etc.), then charge only that amount, which should not exceed the amount available on the gift card.
Retain your card until you are sure all purchases are final and you will not be making any returns that will result in a credit back to your card.
At Restaurants: Many restaurants automatically authorize 20% more than your bill to cover the tip. For example, if your meal was $20, you must have at least $24 available on your card or the card will be declined. However, only the amount you sign for will be charged.
Should you decide to leave a tip for less or more than than 20%, and use a second form of payment, allow 5-7 business days for the additional authorized amount to be returned to your card.
